Description

Retasol Pharmacodynamics
Isotretinoin is one of the biologically active forms of vitamin A. It inhibits the terminal differentiation of sebocytes, hyperproliferation of epithelium of exit ducts of sebaceous glands, normalizes the composition of their secretion and facilitates its evacuation. Due to this, sebum production decreases, its secretion is facilitated, its composition is normalized, and the inflammatory reaction around the glands is reduced. The solution has antiseborrheic, anti-inflammatory, keratolytic effect, enhances the regeneration of the skin.

 

Indications
In adults and teenagers older than 12 years old, papulopustular and comedonal forms of acne, rosacea (with small amount of eruptions), perioral dermatitis, mild seborrheic dermatitis. After withdrawal of retinoids used orally or rectally, Retasol® may be used to maintain the achieved clinical effect.

 

Contraindications
– Hypersensitivity to the drug or its components;
– childhood under 12 years of age;
– pregnancy;
– Breast-feeding period;
– concomitant therapy with tetracyclines;
– hypervitaminosis A;
– Severe hyperlipidemia.
Caution
In chronic liver disease, kidney disease, chronic pancreatitis, decompensated cardiac activity, lipid metabolism disorders, alcoholism.
Administration during pregnancy and lactation.
Contraindicated during pregnancy, lactation, and for women planning to become pregnant.
Pregnancy is an absolute contraindication for using the drug. Isotretinoin refers to drugs with strong teratogenic action. If pregnancy occurs, despite the warnings, during treatment or within a month after termination of therapy, there is a great danger of giving birth to a child with severe malformations. If pregnancy occurs, isotretinoin treatment should be discontinued. A pregnancy should be discussed with a therapist. The use of contraception during treatment with isotretinoin should be recommended even for women who would not normally use contraception of any kind because of infertility, amenorrhea or who report not being sexually active.
Because isotretinoin is highly lipophilic, it can enter breast milk. Administration of isotretinoin to nursing mothers is contraindicated.

 

Dosage and administration

 

  • The solution is applied with a cotton swab to clean skin beforehand (after washing or wiping with an alcohol-free tonic) twice a day. The duration of treatment is 4-12 weeks. The second course of treatment is possible after consultation with your doctor.
