Pertussin Pharmacodynamics
A combination drug. Thyme herb extract has an expectorant effect, increases the amount of secretory discharge of mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract, helps to thin phlegm and accelerate its evacuation. Potassium bromide reduces the excitability of the central nervous system.
Indications
As an expectorant in the treatment of acute respiratory diseases, tracheitis, bronchitis, and whooping cough.
Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, liver disease, alcoholism, brain injury, brain disease, epilepsy, chronic heart failure (decompensation stage), pregnancy, lactation, children (under 3 years).
Caution: diabetes, children over 3 years of age (due to the presence of ethanol in the drug).
Dosage and administration.
- The drug is taken orally, after a meal (due to the possibility of decreased appetite).
- Adults take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day;
- Children from 3 to 6 years – 1 teaspoon 3 times a day;
- Children from 6 to 12 years – 1-2 teaspoons 3 times a day;
- Children over 12 years – 1 dessert spoon 3 times a day.
- The course of treatment 10-14 days. Increasing the duration and carrying out repeated courses of treatment is possible by doctor’s recommendation.
