Thermopsil Pharmacodynamics
Thermopsis herb has an expectorant action, having a mild irritant effect on the receptors of the mucous membrane of the stomach, reflexively raises the secretion of bronchial glands. Alkaloids contained in thermopsis herb (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycardine, anagirine, thermopsidine) have an excitatory effect on respiratory and, in high doses, on vomiting centers.
Sodium bicarbonate stimulates bronchial gland secretion and helps to reduce sputum viscosity.
Indications
Cough with sputum difficult to separate (bronchitis, tracheitis) – in combination therapy.
Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer (acute phase), children under 12 years of age.
Administration during pregnancy and lactation
Controlled studies on pregnant women have not been carried out. There are no data on penetration of alkaloids contained in the herb thermopsis through the placental barrier and into the breast milk. Do not use during pregnancy and during breast-feeding.
Dosage and administration.
- Inside, adults are prescribed 1 tablet 3 times a day for 3-5 days. Children over 12 years – Tablets 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days. The need to prescribe a second course is determined by the physician.
- The highest dose for adults orally (in terms of thermopsis): single – 0.l g; daily – 0.3 g.
