Description
Milk thistle Description.
Is a natural source of flavolignans (silymarin and others).
Flavolignans have a positive effect on liver function, increasing the ability of the liver to filter and eliminate toxins coming from outside through the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) (including alcohol, drugs, food poisoning) and the environment (adverse environmental conditions, industrial factors). Can partially block the effects of free radicals by converting them into less toxic forms. In other words, can prevent the development of malignant tumors.
Flavolignans improve the synthesis of structural and functional proteins and phospholipids (due to specific stimulation of RNA polymerase A) in damaged liver cells. They accelerate metabolism in the liver, shortening the period of cell renewal. They prevent liver dystrophy, improve the function of this organ and promote normal bile formation and bile secretion.
In addition, flavolignans have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used in the treatment of inflammation in the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts.
