Asparkam Pharmacodynamics
Asparkam is a source of potassium and magnesium ions and regulates metabolic processes. Mechanism of action is presumably related to the role of asparaginate as a carrier of magnesium and potassium ions in intracellular space and participation of asparaginate in metabolic processes. Thus, asparkam eliminates electrolyte imbalance, reduces myocardial excitability and conduction (moderate antiarrhythmic effect).
Indications
Asparkam is used in the treatment of heart failure, coronary heart disease, hypokalemia, heart rhythm disorders (including myocardial infarction, overdose of cardiac glycosides).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, impaired metabolism of amino acids, arterial hypotension (blood pressure less than 90 mm Hg). Acute and chronic renal insufficiency, hyperkalemia, hypermagnesemia, atrioventricular conduction disorders (AV block of I-III degree), shock (including cardiogenic), severe myasthenia, acute metabolic acidosis, dehydration (excicosis), hemolysis, Addison disease, oliguria, anuria, age under 18 years (effectiveness and safety is not established), breast-feeding period.
Caution
Concomitant use with drugs that may cause hyperkalemia (see section “Interaction with other drugs”), pregnancy (especially the first trimester of pregnancy), water-electrolyte balance disorders.
Administration during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Adequate and strictly controlled studies on the use of potassium asparaginate + magnesium asparaginate during pregnancy and during breast-feeding have not been conducted.
The use of potassium asparaginate+magnesium asparaginate during pregnancy is possible if the potential benefit to the mother exceeds the possible risk to the fetus/infant.
Potassium asparaginate + magnesium asparaginate penetrate into breast milk. If it is necessary to use potassium asparaginate + magnesium asparaginate during breast-feeding, breast-feeding should be stopped.
Dosage and administration method
- Asparkam administered orally, after a meal.
Appointed usually adults, 1-2 tablets 3 times a day. The course of treatment – 3-4 weeks. - If necessary, the course is repeated.
