Description

Corvalol Pharmacodynamics
A combination drug.
Phenobarbital has sedative and mild sleeping pills. Helps to reduce CNS agitation and facilitates the onset of sleep.
Ethylbromisovalerianat has sedative and antispasmodic effects.
Peppermint oil has reflex vasodilator and antispasmodic activity.

Indications
Corvalol is prescribed as a sedative and vasodilator in functional disorders of the cardiovascular system, in neurosis-like states accompanied by increased irritability, disrupted sleep, tachycardia, states of agitation with marked autonomic manifestations, and as an antispasmodic agent – in intestinal spasms.

Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity to the drug components; marked renal and/or hepatic dysfunction; pregnancy; lactation.
Administration during pregnancy and lactation
Administration of the drug Corvalol during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated because the drug contains phenobarbital, which penetrates through the placenta and has teratogenic effect and negatively affects the formation and further functioning of the central nervous system of the fetus and newborn; it penetrates into breast milk and physical dependence may develop in the newborn. If it is necessary to use during breast-feeding, it is necessary to decide whether to stop breast-feeding.

Dosage and administration methods

  • Dosage is adjusted individually.
  • Adults are usually prescribed 15-30 drops 3 times a day before meals.
  • If tachycardia is present, single dose may be increased to 40-50 drops.
  • Children are prescribed 3-15 drops per day depending on the age and clinical picture of the disease.
    Duration of drug administration shall be determined by the physician individually.
