Description

Nitrofural (Furacilin) concentrate Pharmacodynamics
Antimicrobial agent, nitrofuran derivative. Bacterial flavoproteins,
By reducing the 5-nitro group, they form highly reactive amino derivatives that can cause conformational changes in proteins (including ribosomal) and other macromolecules, leading to the death of the bacteria.
Active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens). Resistance develops slowly and does not reach a high degree.

 

Indications
Externally: purulent wounds, bedsores, II-III degree burns, minor skin lesions (including abrasions, scratches, cracks, cuts).
Topically: blepharitis, conjunctivitis, osteomyelitis, empyema of accessory sinuses and pleurae, urinary tract infections – cavity washing, acute tonsillitis, stomatitis, gingivitis.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to nitrofural, nitrofuran derivatives and/or other to the components of Nitrofural (Furacilin) concentrate, bleeding, allergic dermatoses, expressed renal disorders.
Administration during pregnancy and lactation
Before using Nitrofural (Furacilin) concentrate, if you are pregnant or if you suppose that you might be pregnant or if you plan to become pregnant, during the breast-feeding period consult with your doctor before using this medicine.
Use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding is possible if the expected benefits to the mother exceed the potential risk to the fetus and infant.

 

Dosage and administration
  • Topically, externally.
  • Aqueous 0.02% solution of nitrofural is prepared immediately before use:
  • 5 ml of concentrate is dissolved in 100 ml of boiled or distilled water.
  • Externally. As 0.02% aqueous solution – irrigate wounds, bedsores, II-III degree burns, minor skin injuries (including abrasions, scratches, cracks, cuts) and apply wet dressings.
  • Topically. Blepharitis, conjunctivitis – instillation of 0.02% aqueous solution into conjunctival sac. Post-operative osteomyelitis – washing of the cavity followed by wet dressing. Nasal sinus empyema (including maxillary sinus empyema) – washing the cavity, pleural empyema – after removal of pus the pleural cavity is washed and 20-100 ml of 0.02% water solution is injected.
  • To wash the urinary tract and bladder, 0.02% aqueous solution is used with an exposure time of 20 minutes.
  • In acute tonsillitis, stomatitis, gingivitis – gargling of mouth and throat with warm solution of 100 ml of aqueous 0.02% solution 2-3 times a day.
  • Duration of the course of treatment according to indications, depending on the nature and localization of the affected area.
  • If after treatment there is no improvement, or symptoms worsen, or new symptoms appear, you should consult with a doctor. Use Nitrofural (Furacilin) concentrate only according to the indications, the method of administration indicated in the instructions for use.
