Description

Sanorin with Menthol and Eucalyptus Pharmacodynamics
Nafazolin belongs to alpha2-adrenomimetics with direct stimulating effect on alpha-adrenoreceptors of sympathetic nervous system. When administered intranasally it has a rapid, pronounced and prolonged vasoconstrictor effect on the vessels of nasal mucous membranes, nasopharynx and sinus cavities – it reduces swelling and hyperemia, thereby improving nasal passageway and facilitating nasal breathing. Therapeutic effect usually occurs within 5 minutes after injection and lasts for 4-6 hours.

Indications
– reduction of nasal mucous membrane edema, including acute rhinitis of various etiologies, sinusitis, laryngitis, eustachitis, otitis media (as an additional means);
– To reduce swelling of the nasal mucous membranes, nasopharynx and sinuses during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to naphazolin or to one of the drug components; age under 15 years; atherosclerosis; arterial hypertension; tachycardia; thyrotoxicosis; chronic atrophic rhinitis; severe eye diseases; closed-angle glaucoma; diabetes mellitus; concomitant use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) and period up to 14 days after their application.
Caution
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, coronary heart disease (including angina pectoris), prostatic hyperplasia, pheochromocytoma.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
There are no data on penetration of naphazolin through the placental barrier, as well as into the breast milk. In this regard, when prescribing naphazolin it is necessary to evaluate the ratio of benefit to the mother and risk to the fetus and infant.

Dosage and administration

  • Adults and children over 15 years of age
  • Intranasal. 1-3 drops of the drug in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day. The duration of treatment should not exceed 5-7 days. If necessary, treatment may be resumed after a few days.
  • The drug is put into each nasal passage with the head slightly tilted back. When pumping into the left nasal passage the head should be tilted to the right and when pumping into the right nasal passage – to the left.
