Ketoconazole Pharmacodynamics
Ketoconazole (derivative of imidazodtsioksolana)-synthetic antifungal agent of broad spectrum for topical use. It has fungicidal and fungistatic effect against dermatophytes: Trichophyton spp., Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum spp.; yeast and yeast-like fungi: Candida spp., Pityrosporum spp., Torulopsis, Cryptococcus spp., dimorphic fungi and eumycetes. The drug is active against staphylococci and streptococci. The mechanism of action is inhibition of ergosgerol biosynthesis and changes in lipid composition of fungal membrane.
Indications
The treatment of acute and chronic recurrent vaginal candidiasis, the prevention of vaginal fungal infections when the resistance of the organism is low and during treatment with antibacterial drugs and other drugs that disturb the normal vaginal microflora.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, lactation, children under 18 years of age.
Dosage and administration method.
- Intravaginal. After releasing the suppository from the wrapping, the suppository is placed deep into the vagina in a supine position, 1 suppository a day for 3-5 days, depending on the course of the disease. In chronic candidiasis, use 1 suppository for 10 days.
- If after treatment there is no improvement or new symptoms appear, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
