Description

Otolorin Pharmacodynamics
Combined drug for topical use, has antiseptic and disinfectant action, and moderately relieves pain.
Boric acid has antiseptic, fungistatic action. It has a mild irritant effect on granulation tissues.
Procaine is a local anesthetic with moderate anesthetic activity and a wide range of therapeutic action. Being a weak base, it blocks sodium channels, prevents generation of impulses in the endings of sensitive nerves and conduct of impulses along the nerve fibers. It changes the action potential in nerve cell membranes without a pronounced effect on the resting potential. Suppresses conduction of not only pain but also other modality impulses.

 

Indications
External acute and chronic otitis without damage to the tympanic membrane.

 

Contraindications
– Hypersensitivity to the drug components;
– individual intolerance;
– pregnancy;
– Breast-feeding period;
– childhood;
– chronic renal failure;
– Violation of the integrity of the eardrum.
Caution
Antimicrobial action of sulfonamide drugs may be reduced if used concomitantly with the drug Otolorin.
Usage during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and during breast-feeding.

 

Directions for use and dosages

 

  • In the ear canal.
  • Adults: 2-3 drops in the ear 2-3 times a day.
  • The duration of therapy: no more than 7 days.
  • Before using the ear drops it is recommended to warm the bottle by holding it in your hand in order to avoid discomfort associated with getting cold fluid into the ear.
  • The drops should be injected into the patient with the ear turned upwards; the patient should remain in this position for several minutes after the procedure.
