Bifidumbacterin powder Pharmacodynamics
The therapeutic properties of the drug are determined by live lyophilized bifidobacteria (Bifidobacterium bifidum) present in humans since birth and possessing antagonistic activity against a wide range of pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms. The high quantitative level of bifidobacteria in the preparation helps to normalize the intestinal microflora and thus improve the activity of the gastrointestinal tract, metabolic processes, fasting digestion, increase nonspecific resistance.
Indications
Intestinal dysbacteriosis of various etiologies.
As part of the treatment: Intestinal dysfunction of unspecified etiology, acute intestinal infections (dysentery, salmonellosis, escherichiosis, yersiniosis, rotavirus infection of unspecified etiology), relapses after acute intestinal infections, chronic digestive diseases with impaired intestinal microflora; Children (including infants and prematurely born) with pneumonia, sepsis and other septic-infectious diseases, as well as anemia, hypotrophy, rickets to reduce complications and increase the effectiveness of basic treatment; allergic diseases; dysbiosis and inflammatory processes of female genitalia (bacterial vaginosis, including pregnant women, bacterial colpitis, and senile colpitis of hormonal nature).
For prevention of dysbacteriosis when taking antibacterial drugs (including antibiotics), glucocorticosteroids, drugs that have a ulcerogenic effect on the gastrointestinal tract (including in radiation chemotherapy; in a stressful situation and in extreme conditions; in sick children of all ages; children with a pre-morbid condition, born prematurely or with signs of prematurity, receiving antibiotics in the early neonatal period; children whose mothers suffered from severe toxemia, extragenital diseases, had a long period of waterlessness, had lactastasis, cracked nipples and resumed breastfeeding after recovery from mastitis; children of infants when they were transferred to artificial feeding with donor milk early.
With the purpose of mastitis prevention for local treatment of mammary glands of nursing mothers of the “risk” group (women with inverted flat nipple, decrease in its erection, presence of cracks).
Contraindications
Congenital lactase deficiency. Impaired absorption of glucose-
galactose.
Dosage and administration
- DOSING REGIMEN, COURSE OF TREATMENT AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION.
– Children under 6 months of age, 1 sachet 2-3 times a day, from 2-3 days if necessary, the drug can be increased to 4-6 times a day,
– Children over 6 months and up to 3 years old, 1 sachet 3-4 times a day,
– Children from 3 to 7 years, 1 sachet 3-5 times a day,
– Children over 7 years 2 bags 3-4 times a day,
– Adults: 2 sachets 3 to 4 times a day. - The frequency of intake of the drug, if necessary, can be increased up to 6 times a day.
- The course of treatment 3-4 weeks. If necessary, the course of treatment may be repeated 2-3 times, each time in a month.
- In the acute phase with severe disease with severe dysbacteriosis daily dose may be increased only by appointment of a doctor. When using the drug in the complex treatment of acute intestinal infections treatment course of 7-10 days.
- For preventive purposes:
– Children under 6 months, 1 bag once a day,
– Children over 6 months, 1 bag 1-2 times a day,
– Children from 3 years 2 bags 1-2 times a day,
– Adults: 2 bags 1-2 times a day. - The prophylactic course is carried out for 2-3 weeks, 2-3 times a year.
Bifidumbakterin taken with food, if necessary, regardless of the meal. The drug is mixed with liquid foods, preferably fermented dairy products, newborns and infants – with breast milk or formula for infant feeding. The drug can be mixed with 30-50 ml of boiled room temperature water, which forms slightly opalescent whitish or grayish slurry. The resulting aqueous suspension should be drunk without achieving complete dissolution. - For local use:
– for treatment of the mammary gland of a mother – 1 sachet of the preparation is poured into 10-15 ml of boiled water at room temperature, the resulting suspension is soaked in a sterile tampon and treated with it in the nipple and areola 20-30 minutes before each breast feeding, the tampon is left on the surface of the breast until the feeding, such treatment should be carried out for at least 5 days,
– in gynecological practice – the contents of 2 sachets of the drug should be poured into 15-20 ml of boiled water at room temperature, abundantly saturate the resulting suspension of the sponge and put it in the vagina for 2-3 hours in the morning and evening, the treatment course of 8-10 days, - – In chronic bowel disease drug can be administered in the form of a medicinal enema: 2-3 bags poured into 30-40 ml of boiled water at room temperature and using a balloon pear inject the resulting suspension into the rectum 30-40 minutes after a purging enema once a day, a course of 10 days.
