Description
Bellastesin Pharmacodynamics
It is a combined preparation with antispasmodic, local anesthetic and analgesic effect.
Its antispasmodic effect is due to the effect of belladonna alkaloids: due to
m-cholinoblocking effect reduces tone of smooth muscle organs (bronchial tree, abdominal organs, etc.), spasm of intestinal muscles, biliary tract is eliminated, peristalsis, secretion of digestive, salivary and other glands are reduced, positive dromotropic and chronotropic effect is developed. Benzocaine has local analgesic effect.
Indications
It is used as symptomatic treatment in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by increased secretory function of the stomach and spasms of smooth muscles in order to relieve pain syndrome (hyperacid gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcer).
Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, closed-angle glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia, pregnancy, breast-feeding, children under 6 years of age.
Caution
In patients with polyneuropathy, hyperthyroidism, coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure, arterial hypertension, kidney disease, diaphragmatic hernia, reflux esophagitis.
Administration during pregnancy and lactation
It is contraindicated for use during pregnancy.
It is contraindicated in I trimester of pregnancy due to teratogenic effect of belladonna alkaloids; it is not recommended in II and III trimesters of pregnancy due to the absence of data about safety of administration in this category of patients. There is no data concerning penetration of belladonna alkaloids into breast milk; therefore, it is not recommended to use the drug during breast feeding.
Dosage and administration
- Inside, before a meal.
- Adults: 1 tablet 2-3 times a day.
- The highest single dose – 2 tablets, daily – 5 tablets.
- Children over 6 years of age: 2 tablets 2 to 3 times a day.
- The drug is intended for symptomatic short-term use.
- Duration of treatment should not exceed 3 days.
