Pantoderm Plus Pharmacodynamics
Pantoderm® plus is a combined preparation for topical use.
Dexpanthenol is a group B vitamin, a derivative of pantothenic acid. Dexpanthenol converts in the body into pantothenic acid, which is part of coenzyme A and is involved in processes of acetylation, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, the synthesis of acetylcholine, corticosteroids, porphyrins; stimulates skin regeneration, normalizes cell metabolism, accelerates mitosis and increases the strength of collagen fibers. It has a regenerating, metabolic and mild anti-inflammatory effect.
Chlorhexidine is an antimicrobial and antiseptic. Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including Staphylococcus spp., Enterococcus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E.coli, Streptococcus spp. as well as yeast-like fungi and dermatophytes. It remains active in the presence of blood, pus, various secretions and organic substances.
Pantoderm® Plus protects the wound surface from infections, suppresses the infection process and accelerates healing.
Indications
Treatment and management of minor wounds that are at risk of infection, such as abrasions, scratches, minor cuts and scrapes, cracks, minor burns, infected skin superficial lesions, and teat fissures during breastfeeding.
In chronic wounds, such as trophic ulcers of the lower leg, bedsores, as well as surgical wounds.
Contraindications
Pantoderm® Plus should not be used if it is hypersensitive to the ingredients of the drug; it should not be applied to a damaged eardrum and in case of severe, deep and deeply soiled wounds (such injuries require medical treatment.
Directions for use and dosages
- Externally. Apply a thin layer of the drug to previously cleaned wound surface or inflamed skin area once or several times a day.
- Wounds can be treated both openly and with bandages.
- Breast care for nursing mothers: cream is applied to the nipples after each feeding.
