Rhinorus spray Pharmacodynamics
Vasoconstrictor for local use in ENT practice. Xylometazoline (derivative of imidazoline) is an alpha-adrenomimetic, causes narrowing of blood vessels of nasal mucosa, eliminating its edema and hyperemia, restores nasal passageway patency, facilitates nasal breathing and improves discharge from the nose in rhinitis (runny nose) of different origin.
The action of the drug starts within a few minutes after application and lasts up to 10 hours.
Indications
– Acute rhinitis (including acute respiratory disorders and allergic rhinitis);
– sinusitis;
– eustachitis;
– Otitis media (as part of combined therapy to reduce nasopharyngeal mucosal edema);
– to facilitate rhinoscopy;
– Preparation of patients for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.
Contraindications
arterial hypertension;
– tachycardia;
– marked atherosclerosis;
– glaucoma;
– atrophic rhinitis;
– hyperthyroidism;
– surgical interventions on the cerebral membranes (anamnesis);
– pregnancy (for nasal drops);
– children under 2 years of age;
– children under 6 years of age (for nasal drops 0.1% and nasal spray 0.1%);
– Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug (including eucalyptus oil).
Do not use during therapy with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants, as well as with other drugs that increase BP.
Caution should be exercised when using the drug in diabetes mellitus, CHD, angina III-IV functional class, prostatic hyperplasia, lactation.
Dosage and administration
- Children from 2 to 6 years – 1 (one) injection of 0.05% spray in each nostril (nasal passage) 1-2 times a day.
- The drug should not be used more than 3 times a day.
- Treatment duration is not more than 5-7 days (without a break).
- After completion of therapy the drug may be administered again only after several days.
- Duration of drug administration in children is determined by the doctor.
