Description

Xylong Pharmacodynamics
Xylometazoline belongs to a group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic activity, causes narrowing of blood vessels of nasal mucosa, restores nasal passageway, facilitates nasal breathing. The action of the drug usually comes within a few minutes after application and lasts up to 10 hours.
Dexpanthenol is a B vitamin – a derivative of pantothenic acid. Dexpanthenol converts in the body into pantothenic acid, which is part of coenzyme A (Co-A) and is involved in acetylation processes, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, the synthesis of acetylcholine, corticosteroids, porphyrins, stimulates the regeneration of skin, mucous membranes, normalizes cell metabolism, accelerates mitosis and increases the strength of collagen fibers. It has a regenerating, metabolic and mild anti-inflammatory effect.

Indications
It is used for acute respiratory diseases with rhinitis symptoms, acute allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, sinusitis, otitis media (as a part of combined therapy to reduce nasopharyngeal mucosa edema), to facilitate rhinoscopy, restoration of nasal breathing disorders; after surgical interventions in the nasal cavity.

Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, marked atherosclerosis, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, dry rhinitis, porphyria, prostatic hyperplasia, brain surgery (in anamnesis), concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclic antidepressants, pregnancy, breast-feeding period, children under 6 years of age.
With caution:
Diabetes mellitus, pheochromocytoma, diseases of the cardiovascular system (including coronary heart disease), hypersensitivity to the action of adrenergic drugs, accompanied by insomnia, dizziness, arrhythmia, tremor, increased blood pressure.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The use of the drug in pregnancy and during breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Directions for use and dosages

  • Intranasally.
  • Remove the protective cap. The bottle is ready for use.
  • Before first use, or after a long break in use, press the dosing nozzle several times until an even spray appears. When using the spray, keep the bottle upright. In order to facilitate precise dosing of the product, the dosing nozzle should be pushed down as far as it will go.
  • During the injection, you need to inhale lightly with your nose. One injection in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day. The duration of therapy is 5-7 days.
  • Do not use for more than 7 days. Duration of drug administration in children is set after consultation with a physician.
  • Repeated use is possible only after a break of several days.
  • If after 5 days of treatment no improvement occurs or symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear, consult a doctor.
  • Use the drug only according to the indications, the method of administration and in the doses specified in the instructions.
