Valerian tincture Pharmacodynamics
Valerian tincture exhibits a moderately pronounced sedative effect. The active principles of the drug are the ester of borneol and isovaleric acid, free valerian acid. The sedative effect is slow but fairly steady. Facilitates the onset of natural sleep. In addition, the drug has an antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, has choleretic properties, increases the secretion of gastrointestinal glands.
Indications
Increased nervous irritability, insomnia, in the treatment – functional disorders of the cardiovascular system, spasms of the gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, breast-feeding, children under 1 year of age.
Caution
Chronic enterocolitis, liver disease, alcoholism, brain injury, brain disease, children under 1 year of age.
Administration during pregnancy and lactation
The use of the drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and during breast-feeding.
Dosage and administration
- Inside, before a meal, diluted with a little water.
- Adults take 20-30 drops per reception 3-4 times a day, children – 1 drop for each year of life 1-3 times a day. The course of treatment – up to 4 weeks.
- Repeated courses of treatment are possible after consultation with the doctor.
