Birch tar Pharmacodynamics
It has keratoplastic, antiseptic, antiparasitic, drying, anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictor, anesthetic effect; reduces erythema, soothes itching. With infiltrative processes in the skin has a resolving effect.
Indications
Psoriasis in stationary and regressive stages, eczema (including microbial and seborrheic), neurodermatitis out of acute condition, scabies, seborrhea, itching skin
Contraindications
Acute inflammation of the skin, acute exacerbation of chronic skin diseases, especially when expressed exudation (acute eczema, dermatitis, exudative psoriasis), lesions of salivary follicles (folliculitis, furunculosis, acne, sycosis), kidney, liver, pancreas, myocardium. Age under 18 years.
Caution.
The drug should be used with caution in people with sensitive skin, with a tendency to folliculitis, in areas with increased hairiness.
Usage during pregnancy and lactation
It is contraindicated for pregnant women, women planning to become pregnant and women breast-feeding.
Dosage and administration.
- Outwardly. When eczema, neurodermatitis and psoriasis before using to remove crusts or scales with an oil compress. Berestin birch tar is applied to the lesion with a stiff brush or hand at first for 15 minutes once a day, gradually increasing the application time to 30 minutes. The drug is removed with a cotton or gauze swab moistened with vegetable or Vaseline oil. For psoriasis and scabies in 15-30 minutes after application it is recommended to take a shower with soap or shower gel, washing the preparation with a sponge or washcloth. After removing the birch twigs from the skin lesions are smeared with emollient ointment or cream. The daily dose of the drug should not exceed 6-8 g.
- Duration of treatment course is up to 4 weeks, breaks between courses of 1-2 months.
