Description

Rixint Rhino Pharmacodynamics
Oxymetazoline has a vasoconstrictor effect. When applied topically to the inflamed nasal mucosa it reduces its swelling and nasal discharge. Restores nasal breathing.
Elimination of nasal mucous membrane edema helps restore aeration of paranasal sinuses, middle ear cavity, which prevents the development of bacterial complications (maxillary sinusitis, sinusitis, otitis media).
During local intranasal application in therapeutic concentrations it does not irritate and does not cause nasal mucosal hyperemia.
The drug starts to act quickly (within a few minutes). Duration of action of the drug is up to 12 hours.

Indications
Treatment of acute respiratory diseases accompanied by runny nose;
allergic rhinitis;
vasomotor rhinitis;
Restoration of drainage in inflammation of paranasal sinuses, eustachitis, otitis media;
To eliminate swelling before diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.

Contraindications
atrophic rhinitis;
closed-angle glaucoma;
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
Surgical interventions on the dura mater (history);
condition after transsphenoidal pituitaryectomy;
inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes of the nasal vestibule area;
Children under 1 year of age – for 0.025% drops;
Children under 6 years of age – for 0.05% drops.
Caution
Pregnancy and period of breastfeeding. In patients with increased intraocular pressure, suffering from diseases of the cardiovascular system (arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure, tachycardia, arrhythmia), carbohydrate metabolism disorders (diabetes), thyroid function disorders (hyperthyroidism), pheochromocytoma, chronic renal insufficiency, prostatic hyperplasia (urinary retention), severe atherosclerosis, porphyria, and in patients taking tricyclic antidepressants and bromocriptine as well as other drugs that increase blood pressure. Taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors within the previous 2 weeks and within 2 weeks after their withdrawal.
Administration in pregnancy and during breastfeeding
When used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, the recommended dose should not be exceeded.
Caution should be exercised in the presence of arterial hypertension or signs of decreased placental blood flow. Frequent or prolonged use of the drug in high doses may lead to decreased placental blood flow.
The drug should be used only after careful assessment of the risk-benefit ratio for the mother and fetus. It is necessary to consult a physician.

Dosage and administration method

  • Intranasal.
  • Adults and children over 6 years of age: apply drops of 0.05 % solution 1-2 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day.
  • Children 1 to 6 years of age should use drops of 0.025 % solution in each nostril 2-3 times a day.
  • Children under 1 year of age up to 4 weeks of age are prescribed 1 drop of 0.01 % solution in each nostril 2-3 times a day. From the 5th week of life and up to 1 year of age – 1-2 drops in each nostril 2-3 times a day.
  • It is not recommended to use the drug for more than 7 days.
  • With frequent and prolonged use of the drug the feeling of “stuffy” nose may appear again or worsen. If such symptoms occur, stop treatment and consult a physician.
