Nolycin Pharmacodynamics
It is an antimicrobial agent of the group of fluoroquinolones of broad-spectrum action.
It has a bactericidal effect. It affects the bacterial enzyme DNA-gyrase, which provides superspiralization and thus stability of bacterial DNA. Destabilization of DNA chain leads to the death of bacteria. It has a wide range of antibacterial activity.
Staphylococcus aureus (including strains of Staphylococcus spp. resistant to methicillin), Staphylococcus epidermidis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Escherichia coli, Citrobacter spp., Klebsiella spp, Hafhia alvei, Proteus spp. (indole-positive and indole-negative strains), Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Yersinia enterocolitica, Campylobacter jejuni, Aeromonas spp., Plesiomonas spp., Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Haemophilus influenzae, Chlamydia spp.
Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus spp. (Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus viridans), Serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter spp., Mycoplasma hominis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium fortuitum have different sensitivity to the drug.
Duration of antimicrobial action – about 12 hours.
Indications
Infectious-inflammatory diseases caused by pathogens sensitive to the drug:
– acute and chronic urinary tract infections (urethritis, cystitis, pyelonephritis);
– genital infections (cervicitis, endometritis, chronic bacterial prostatitis);
– uncomplicated gonorrhea;
– Bacterial gastroenteritis (salmonellosis, shigellosis);
– Prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections;
– Prevention of sepsis in patients with neutropenia;
– prevention of traveler’s diarrhea
Contraindications
– glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency;
– pregnancy;
– lactation (breastfeeding);
– Childhood and adolescence under 18 years of age;
– hypersensitivity to norfloxacin and other drugs of the group of fluoroquinolones.
The drug should be used with caution in case of atherosclerosis of cerebral blood vessels, impaired cerebral circulation, epilepsy, epileptic syndrome, renal/liver failure and allergic reactions to acetylsalicylic acid.
Dosage and administration method.
- It is taken orally on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after the meal) with plenty of fluids.
- The recommended dosage – 400 mg 2 Duration of treatment of 7 to 14 days, if necessary conduct a longer treatment.
- In chronic bacterial prostatitis – 400 mg 2 for 4 to 6 weeks or more.
- In uncomplicated gonorrhea, a single dose of 800-1200 mg or 400 mg 2 for 3-7 days.
- In bacterial gastroenteritis (shigellosis, salmonellosis) – 400 mg 2 for 5 days.
- For travelers’ diarrhea prophylaxis it is recommended to take 400 mg / 1 day before departure, during the trip and 2 days after its termination (not more than 21 days).
- For prophylaxis of sepsis in neutropenia – 400 mg 2 for 8 weeks.
- In acute uncomplicated cystitis – 400 mg 2 for 3-5 days.
- For prophylaxis of recurrent uncomplicated urinary tract infections with frequent relapses (more than 3 episodes per year, or more than 2 within 6 months) – 200 mg 1 time at night for a long term (6 months to several years).
- No dosage adjustment is required for patients with impaired renal function at a CKG of more than 20 ml/min.
- In patients with CKD less than 20 ml/min (or serum creatinine more than 5 mg/dL) and in patients on hemodialysis half therapeutic dose of Nolitsin 2 or full dose 1 time per day is administered.
