Calcium is one of the most important essential minerals in the human body. Almost 98% of calcium is found in the bones, 1% in the teeth, and the rest in the blood and inside the cells. The body’s need for calcium depends on physiological conditions, body states, and age. In food, calcium is found in milk, dairy products (cottage cheese, sour cream, kefir, yogurt), canned fish and fish (salmon, trout, pink salmon), any dark green vegetables, rutabaga, oranges, sesame, oats, figs. The main reason for the lack of calcium in the body is its lack in the diet.
For the production of dietary supplements “Calcimidion” calcium powder is used, obtained from the shells of mussels, mined in an ecologically clean area of the White Sea. Absorption of calcium is promoted by vitamins D3 and C, and trace elements (copper, manganese, zinc, vitamins) help calcium in preserving young skin and the formation of bone and cartilage, hair and nails.
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps maintain the integrity of bones and teeth, it improves the absorption of calcium in the intestine and its replenishment in bone tissue. It is one of the few vitamins that is mainly synthesized in the human body under the influence of sunlight. Small amounts of vitamin D3 are contained in dairy products, cottage cheese, cheese, vegetable and butter, raw egg yolks, seafood, fish liver, fish oil, herring, tuna, mackerel, mackerel. Vitamin D3 deficiency may be caused by insufficient exposure to the sun or an inadequate diet, which is more often observed in older people because with age decreases the ability of the skin to produce this vitamin under ultraviolet rays.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin necessary for the proper development of the body. Vitamin C improves the body’s ability to absorb calcium, forming complexes with it, easily transferred to the cells. Vitamin C is involved in the synthesis of collagen, which makes up ligaments and cartilage. The human body is not able to produce vitamin C on its own and must necessarily get it with food. Main sources of Vitamin C in food are vegetables, berries, and some fruits (rose hips, black currants, oranges, tangerines, lemons, green walnuts, cabbage, bell peppers, tomatoes, gooseberries, raspberries, leafy greens, green beans and green peas, and apples).
