Description
Methionine Pharmacodynamics
Has a metabolic, hepatoprotective effect. Methionine – an essential amino acid – is required for choline synthesis, deficiency of which is associated with impaired synthesis of phospholipids from fats and deposition of neutral fat in the liver.
It is involved in the metabolism of sulfur-containing amino acids, in the synthesis of epinephrine, creatinine and other biologically important compounds, activates the hormones, vitamins (B12, ascorbic acid, folic acid), enzymes, proteins, is involved in re-methylation, deamination, decarboxylation, etc.
Necessary for detoxification of xenobiotics. In atherosclerosis it reduces the concentration of cholesterol and increases the concentration of blood phospholipids.
Indications
As part of the complex therapy of liver diseases with fatty infiltration of hepatocytes: toxic hepatitis, hepatosis (including alcoholic), cirrhosis, liver dystrophy, intoxication.
Prevention of toxic liver injury by arsenic, chloroform, benzene, alcohol.
As part of the combination therapy: protein deficiency of various origins, atherosclerosis, diabetes.
Contraindications .
Viral hepatitis, severe hepatic insufficiency, hepatic encephalopathy, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, children under 6 years of age.
Caution
Renal insufficiency (danger of increasing hyperazotemia).
Consult a physician before application.
Administration during pregnancy and lactation
No studies have been conducted to confirm the safety of the fetus when using methionine during pregnancy and the safety of the child during breastfeeding.
The drug use during pregnancy and lactation is possible only in cases when the expected benefits to the mother exceed the possible risk to the fetus and child.
Before using Methionine, if you are pregnant or if you suspect that you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, consult your physician.
