Description
Ammonia-Anise drops Pharmacodynamics
The drug reflexively affects the bronchi and bronchial glands, stimulating the motor function of the atrial epithelium and bronchioles, which contributes to the promotion and excretion of sputum from the lower and upper sections of the airways. This effect is combined with increased secretion of bronchial glands and some reduction in sputum viscosity. Anise oil has an expectorant action due to the content of anetol in the oil, which contributes to reflex excitation of breathing, increased activity of the ciliary epithelium of the airways and increased secretion of mucous membranes of the larynx, trachea and bronchi.
Ammonia has an irritant effect which leads to excitation of sensory nerve endings of upper respiratory tract and reflex stimulation of respiratory center.
