Description

Flamax Pharmacodynamics
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, a derivative of propionic acid. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects, inhibits platelet aggregation. Influencing cyclooxygenase and lipooxygenase link of arachidonic acid metabolism, ketoprofen inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins, leukotrienes and thromboxanes. Analgesic effects are due to both central and peripheral mechanisms. It has anti-bradykinin activity and stabilizes lysosomal membranes.

 

Indications
  • Joint syndrome (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout);
  • symptomatic treatment of inflammatory degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system (periarthritis, arthrosynovitis, tendinitis, tendosynovitis, bursitis, lumbago), spinal pain, neuralgia, myalgia.
  • Uncomplicated injuries, particularly sports injuries, sprains, sprains or tears of ligaments and tendons, contusions, post-traumatic pain.
  • As part of the combination therapy of inflammatory diseases of the veins, lymph vessels, lymph nodes (phlebitis, periphlebitis, lymphangitis, superficial lymphadenitis).

 

Contraindications .
For oral use: erosive-ulcerative lesions of GIT in acute phase, “aspirin triad”, expressed liver and/or kidney dysfunction; III trimester of pregnancy; age under 15 years old (for retard tablets); hypersensitivity to ketoprofen and salicylates.
For rectal use: proctitis and bleeding from the rectum in the anamnesis.
For external use: oozing dermatoses, eczema, infected abrasions, wounds.

 

Dosage and administration
  • Intravenously, intramuscularly.
  • Intramuscular administration: 100 mg (1 ampoule) 1-2 times a day.
  • Intravenous infusion of the drug should be performed only in hospital conditions. Average infusion time is 0.5-1 hours. Repeated infusion after 8 hours is possible.
  • Short-duration intravenous infusion: 100-200 mg (1-2 ampoules) of the drug diluted in 100 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution is administered within 0.5-1 hour. Repeated administration after 8 hours is possible.
  • Continuous intravenous infusion: 100-200 mg (1-2 ampoules) of the drug diluted in 500 ml of solutions for infusion (0.9% sodium chloride solution, Ringer’s solution, 5% dextrose solution) for 8 hours. It is possible to administer again after 8 hours.
  • Combined use.
  • Flamax may be combined with centrally acting analgesics and may be mixed with morphine in the same vial. It should not be mixed in the same vial with tramadol due to precipitation.
  • Parenteral administration of ketoprofen can be combined with the use of oral forms (tablets, capsules) or rectal suppositories, and the maximum daily dose can be increased to 300 mg or reduced to 100 mg depending on the nature of the disease and condition of the patient.
