Livarol Pharmacodynamics
Ketoconazole. imidazoldioxolan derivative – synthetic broad-spectrum antifungal agent for topical use. It has fungicidal and fungistatic effect against dermatophytes (Trichophyton spp., Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum spp.), yeast and yeast-like fungi (Candida spp., Pityrosporum spp., Torulopsis, Cryptococcus spp., dimorphic fungi and eumycetes). The drug is active against staphylococci and streptococci.
The mechanism of action is inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis and changes in lipid composition of fungal membrane.
Indications
Treatment of acute and chronic recurrent vaginal candidiasis.
Prophylaxis of vaginal fungal infections in patients with a reduced resistance of the organism and against the background of treatment with antibacterials and other drugs that disrupt the normal vaginal flora.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pregnancy, breast-feeding, children under 18 years of age.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Clinical data concerning the use of ketoconazole during pregnancy and breast-feeding are limited.
It is contraindicated to use the drug during pregnancy.
If it is necessary to apply the drug during lactation, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
Dosage and administration method
- For intravaginal use.
- Remove the suppository from the envelope as shown (the envelope of each suppository has special “wings” that allow you to remove the suppository quickly and easily without damaging it).
- Insert the suppository deep into the vagina in a supine position.
- Take 1 suppository a day for 3-5 days, depending on the course of the disease.
- In chronic candidiasis use 1 suppository per day for 10 days.
- Do not stop the treatment course on your own, even if your symptoms have disappeared, because incomplete treatment may lead to the transition of the disease into a chronic form. If symptoms persist or intensify during treatment, stop the treatment and consult a doctor.
