Description
Indole-A Description
Food supplement “Indole-A (indole-3-carbinol) 120” consists of Indole-Z-carbinol with the addition of excipients, and is recommended as an additional source of indole-3-carbinol.
Indole (benzopyrrol, 2, 3-benzpyrrol)-heterocyclic condensed aromatic compound. Colorless crystals with an odor resembling that of cabbage. Indole and its homologue scatole are formed in the intestines of humans and mammals as a result of cleavage of the amino acid tryptophan by putrefactive bacteria – indole has a very unpleasant odor. MECHANISM OF ACTION
Indole is formed in the intestines of humans and mammals as a result of cleavage by putrefactive bacteria of the amino acid tryptophan – indole has a very unpleasant odor. The indole nucleus is a fragment of the molecules of many important natural biochemical compounds (e.g., tryptophan, serotonin, melatonin, bufotenin). (Source Wikipedia).
Glucosinolates were isolated from vegetables of the cruciferous plant family, from which indole-3-carbinol was obtained and further experimentally investigated. Data on the low toxicity and safety of indole-3-carbinol are presented. The mechanism of action of this compound is complex, related to the influence on different components of signaling systems, pro-oxidant/antioxidant homeostasis, estrogen metabolism, the activity of several enzymes.
