Diosperidin Pharmacodynamics
Hesperidin + Diosmin has angioprotective and venotonic action. It reduces distensibility of veins, increases their tone and decreases venous stasis, decreases permeability and fragility of capillaries and increases their resistance, improves microcirculation and lymph outflow. When used systematically it reduces the severity of clinical manifestations of chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs of organic and functional nature. The optimal dose-effect relation is observed when taking 1000 mg per day.
The main excretion of the drug occurs through the intestine. On average, about 14 % of the taken drug amount is excreted through the kidneys. The elimination half-life is 11 hours.
Hesperidin + Diosmin undergoes active metabolism, which is confirmed by the presence of phenolic acids in urine.
Indications
Diosperidin is indicated for therapy of symptoms of chronic vein disease (elimination and relief of symptoms).
Therapy of symptoms of venous and lymphatic insufficiency:
-Lower extremity cramps;
-A feeling of heaviness and expansion in the legs;
-Pain;
– “tired” legs.
Therapy of manifestations of venous and lymphatic insufficiency:
– swelling of the lower extremities;
-trophic changes in the skin and subcutaneous tissue;
-venous trophic ulcers.
Symptomatic therapy for acute and chronic hemorrhoids.
Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity to the active components or excipients,
included in the drug. It is not recommended for women during breast-feeding.
Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Pregnancy .
Experiments on animals have not revealed teratogenic effects. To date, there have been no reports of any side effects when using the drug in pregnant women.
Breast-feeding period
Because of lack of data concerning excretion of the drug with the breast milk, it is not recommended to women during the period of breast-feeding.
Effect on reproductive function
Studies of reproductive toxicity showed no effect on reproductive function in rats of either sex.
Dosage and administration method
- Oral.
- The recommended dosage for veno-lymphatic insufficiency is 1 tablet in the middle of the day and 1 tablet in the evening, with meals.
- The duration of treatment may be several months (up to 12 months). In the case of recurrence of symptoms, upon the recommendation of the doctor, the treatment course may be repeated.
- The recommended dose for acute hemorrhoids – 6 tablets per day: 3 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets in the evening for 4 days, then 4 tablets per day: 2 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets in the evening for the next 3 days.
- In chronic hemorrhoids – 2 tablets (1 g) once a day, with meals, at any convenient time.
