Description
Pantogam Active Pharmacodynamics
The action of Pantogam active is due to the presence of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in its structure, which directly acts on the GABA receptor-channel complex. Pantogam active is a racemic mixture of equal amounts of the R form of hopantenic acid and its S isomer. The presence of the isomer improves transport and interaction of the drug with the GABA receptor. Pantogam active has a more pronounced nootropic and anticonvulsant effect than first-generation preparations of hypanthenic acid.
Pantogam active increases resistance of the brain to hypoxia and toxic substances, stimulates anabolic processes in neurons, combines a moderate sedative effect with a mild stimulating effect. It has anti-asthenic and mild anti-anxiety effects. Reduces motor excitability and regulates behavior. Activates mental activity and efficiency. Causes inhibition of pathologically increased bladder reflex and detrusor tone.
