Methyluracil Pharmacodynamics
It has anabolic activity. It has hematopoietic, leukopoietic, immunostimulatory, anti-inflammatory effects. By normalizing the nucleic acid metabolism, it accelerates regeneration of wounds, accelerating growth and granulation maturation of tissue and epithelialization (including rapidly proliferating cells of the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract), stimulates erythro- and leukopoiesis, cellular and humoral immune factors.
Indications
Leukopenia (mild forms, including those resulting from chemotherapy for malignant tumors, x-ray and radiation therapy), agranulocytic angina, alimentary toxic leukemia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, Benzene intoxication, radiation sickness, convalescence (after severe infections), stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer (in combination therapy), sluggish wounds, burns, bone fractures, hepatitis, pancreatitis.
Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity, leukemia (leukemic forms, especially myeloid), lymphogranulematosis, hematological malignancies of bone marrow, children under 3 years of age.
Pregnancy and lactation:
During pregnancy and lactation one should correlate the assumed benefits to the mother and the potential risk to the fetus and child.
Dosage and administration method
- orally, during or after meals, adults – 500 mg 4 times a day (if necessary, up to 6 times a day, maximum daily dose – 3 g), children from 3 to 8 years – 250 mg 3 times a day (maximum daily dose – 750 mg), over 8 years – up to 14 years – 250-500 mg 3 times a day (maximum daily dose – 1.5 g). The course in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract is 30-40 days; in other cases it may be less long.
