Description

Diosmin Pharmacodynamics
Diosmin refers to a group of bioflavonoids, has phlebotonic (reduces vein stretching, increases the tone of the veins (dose-dependent effect), reduces venous congestion), improves lymphatic drainage (increases the tone and frequency of contraction of the lymph capillaries, increases their functional density, lowers lymphatic pressure), improves microcirculation (increases capillary resistance (dose-dependent effect), decreases their permeability), reduces leukocyte adhesion to the venous wall and their migration to paravenous tissue, improves oxygen diffusion and perfusion in the skin tissue, has anti-inflammatory effect.
It enhances vasoconstrictor effect of adrenaline, noradrenaline, blocks production of free radicals, synthesis of prostaglandins and thromboxane.

Indications
– Varicose veins of the lower extremities (elimination of symptoms);
– Chronic lymphovenous insufficiency of the lower extremities (elimination of symptoms);
– Acute hemorrhoids (in complex therapy for symptom relief);
– Microcirculatory disorders (e.g., idiopathic edema).

 

Contraindications
– Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
– Children under 18 years of age (experience of use is limited);
– Pregnancy (1st trimester) and breast-feeding (experience of use is limited).
Pregnancy and lactation:
There is limited experience with this drug in pregnant women. No adverse reactions during administration of diosmin in pregnant women have been reported in clinical practice. Experimental studies have not revealed teratogenic effects of diosmin on pregnancy, embryophyte and postnatal development. Nevertheless, for safety reasons, the use of the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated. If it is necessary to use the drug during the II and III trimesters of pregnancy, it is recommended to consult a physician in advance.
It is not recommended to use the drug during breast feeding, because there is no data on penetration of diosmin into the breast milk.

 

Directions for use and dosages

 

  • The drug is intended for oral administration.
  • When varicose veins of the lower limbs and chronic lymphovenous insufficiency.
  • The drug is taken as 1 tablet a day in the morning on an empty stomach. The therapy usually lasts for 2 months. In severe forms of chronic lymphovenous insufficiency (edema, pain, cramps, etc.) treatment may be longer (total duration of continuous therapy should not exceed three to four months). Treatment courses drug Diosmin repeat after 2-3 months.
  • For the treatment of chronic lymphovenous insufficiency during the II and III trimester of pregnancy drug is used on 1 tablet once a day. The duration of therapy is not more than 30 days. It is necessary to stop taking the drug 2-3 weeks before delivery.
  • When hemorrhoids are exacerbated.
  • The drug is used for 2-3 tablets a day with meals for 7 days. Further, if necessary, you can continue taking the drug 1 tablet 1 time a day for 1-2 months.
  • With violations of the microcirculation.
  • The drug is used on 1 tablet a day in the morning on an empty stomach. The duration of therapy is usually 1-2 months.
  • If one or more doses of the drug are missed, it is necessary to continue using the drug as usual and in the usual dose.
