Dimexide Pharmacodynamics
An anti-inflammatory agent, which has a local analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. It has a moderate antiseptic and fibrinolytic effect.
Dimethylsulfoxide inhibits inflammatory infiltration of tissues. In addition, dimethylsulfoxide promotes normalization of fibrin formation processes. Dimethylsulfoxide increases microcirculation in tissues by inhibiting erythrocyte aggregation, increases phagocyte activity, inhibits neutrophil chemotaxis and reduces circulating immune complexes. It penetrates through skin, mucous membranes, cell wall of bacteria (increases their sensitivity to antibiotics) and other biological membranes and increases their permeability to drugs. The drug is slightly toxic.
Indications
It is used for pain syndrome elimination in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, Bechterew disease, deforming osteoarthritis, arthropathy, radiculitis, trigeminal neuralgia, etc., for treatment of bruises, ligament damages, traumatic infiltrates, in treatment of erythema nodosa.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Dimexid or other components of the drug, pregnancy, lactation, severe liver and kidney function, angina, myocardial infarction, marked atherosclerosis, various types of stroke, glaucoma, cataracts, coma, children under 12 years of age.
Directions for use and dosages
- Outwardly. It is applied 1-2 times a day in a thin layer on the affected area for adults and children above 12 years old. The duration of treatment is 10-14 days. Repeated courses can be carried out at least 10 days later.
