Cervicon-DIM Pharmacodynamics
Zervikon-DIM contains diindolylmethane as an active ingredient, which is a drug that stimulates apoptosis of human papillomavirus (HPV)-infected and transformed cells and stimulates the expression of receptors to ƴ-interferon. Thus, the therapeutic effect of diindolylmethane is based on its ability to accelerate the elimination of human papillomavirus-infected and transformed cells and to enhance the nonspecific immune response to the infection. In addition, diindolylmethane normalizes estradiol metabolism in HPV-infected cells, preventing the formation of the carcinogenic estrogen metabolite (16α-hydroxyestrone) that stimulates the expression of HPV oncogenes. By suppressing expression of human papilloma virus oncogene E7, diindolylmethane blocks hormone-dependent pathological proliferation of HPV-infected cells.
Diindolylmethane belongs to practically non-toxic drugs (LD50 more than 5 g/kg).
Indications
Treatment of dysplasia (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) of the cervix (regardless of the results of detecting human papillomavirus infection by PCR).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity of any of the components of the drug.
Period of pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Childhood under 18 years.
Using during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and during breast-feeding.
Dosage and administration method
  • Intravaginal 100 mg 2 times a day. The duration of treatment is 3-6 months.
  • The duration of treatment is determined by the dynamics of clinical and laboratory parameters.
  • Recommendations on the method of administration of the drug:
  • The drug is injected into the vagina 2 times a day (morning and evening) with 1 suppository.
  • Immediately before insertion it is necessary to wash hands thoroughly.
  • The suppository is inserted deep into the vagina in a supine position.
  • After insertion it is recommended to use a sanitary pad.
