Description

Diclofenac Pharmacodynamics
NSAID, a derivative of phenylacetic acid, has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. By inhibiting COX 1 and COX 2 indiscriminately, it disrupts arachidonic acid metabolism, reduces the amount of Pg, including in the inflammation focus.

Indications
Inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic, juvenile chronic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatic soft tissue lesions; gouty arthritis); trauma-induced inflammation of tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints (due to sprains, strains and bruises).
Pain syndrome (lumbago, sciatica, neuralgia, myalgia, tendovaginitis, bursitis, rheumatic soft tissue, degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system: deforming osteoarthritis, osteochondrosis).

Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity (including other NSAIDs), younger children (under 6 years), violation of the integrity of the skin at the intended location of application.
Caution
Hepatic porphyria (aggravation), gastrointestinal erosive-ulcerative lesions (in the phase of aggravation), severe liver and renal dysfunction, CHF, bronchial asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis, provoked by taking ASA or other NSAIDs. NSAIDs; blood clotting disorders (including hemophilia, prolongation of bleeding time, tendency to bleeding), old age, pregnancy (III trimester), breast-feeding.
If you have one of the above mentioned diseases or conditions, you must consult with your doctor before using the drug.
Administration during pregnancy and breast-feeding
Because of absence of data on using the drug in pregnant women, it is recommended to use the drug during I and II trimester of pregnancy only by prescription of a physician comparing the benefits for mother and risks for fetus.
It is not recommended to use the drug during breast-feeding. If it is nevertheless necessary to use the drug, it should not be applied to the mammary glands or large skin surface and it should not be used for a long time.

Directions for use and dosages

  • Outwardly. Ointment – 2 – 4 g (1 g corresponds to about 2 cm of squeezed out strip of ointment) is applied in thin layer, rubbing lightly into the skin over inflamed area 2 – 3 times a day; after application, you should wash hands if only this area is not exposed to treatment. Maximal daily dose is 8 g.
  • Course of treatment – 7 – 14 days.
  • The drug has an optimal combination of analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects and good tolerability. Therefore, in the absence of contraindications can be used even for a long time.
  • The duration of treatment depends on the indications and the observed effect (to enhance the effect, the drug can be used together with other diclofenac dosage forms by agreement with the physician).
