Description

Omnitus Pharmacodynamics
Butamirate is an anticough agent of central action. However, the exact mechanism of action of the drug is not known. Butamirat citrate has nonspecific anticholinergic and bronchospasmolytic effects. Suppresses cough, having a direct effect on the coughing center. It has a bronchodilator effect (dilates the bronchi). Facilitates breathing, improving spirometry (reduces airway resistance) and blood oxygenation (saturates blood with oxygen). The drug is well tolerated in therapeutic doses.

Indications
Dry cough of any etiology (colds, flu, whooping cough and other conditions).
Cough suppression in preoperative and postoperative period, during surgery, bronchoscopy.

Contraindications .
Hypersensitivity to the drug, children under 2 months of age, pregnancy
(I trimester), breast-feeding, fructose intolerance (the drug contains sorbitol), simultaneous use with expectorants.
Caution
Pregnancy (II and III trimesters), patients with predisposition to drug addiction, as the drug contains ethanol, liver dysfunction, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain diseases, use in children under 2 years of age.

No data on safety of drug administration during pregnancy and its passage through the placental barrier are available. It is contraindicated to use the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy. It is possible to use the drug in II and III trimesters of pregnancy if the expected benefits to mother exceed the potential risk to fetus.
It is unknown whether the active substance or its metabolites pass into breast milk, therefore it is not recommended to apply the drug during breast feeding.

Directions for use and dosages

  • Inside, before meals.
  • Children from 2 months to 1 year of age: 10 drops 4 times a day, from 1 to 3 years of age: 15 drops 4 times a day, from 3 years of age and older: 25 drops 4 times a day.
  • If the cough persists for more than 7 days, you should consult a doctor.
  • Before using the drug in children under 2 years of age, consult a doctor.
