Chest elixir Pharmacodynamics
The expectorant effect of the chest elixir is due to the action of its constituent components:

– Anise oil has an expectorant effect due to the content of anetol in the oil, which contributes to reflex excitation of breathing, increased activity of the ciliary epithelium of the respiratory tract and increased secretion of the mucous membranes of the larynx, trachea, bronchi;
– Ammonia has an irritant effect, which leads to excitation of sensory nerve endings of the upper respiratory tract and reflex stimulation of the respiratory center.
