Bromhexin Pharmacodynamics
Mucolytic (secretolytic) remedy, has expectorant and mild anti-cough effect. Reduces sputum viscosity (depolymerizes mucoprotein and mucopolysaccharide fibers, increases the serous component of bronchial secretion); activates the atrial epithelium, increases volume and improves sputum discharge. Stimulates production of endogenous surfactant, which provides stability of alveolar cells during breathing. The effect is manifested in 2-5 days from the start of treatment.
Indications
Acute and chronic respiratory tract diseases accompanied by difficulty in deflating viscous sputum: tracheobronchitis, bronchitis of various etiologies (including those complicated by bronchiectasis), pneumonia, bronchial asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis.
Sanitation of the bronchial tree in the pre-operative period, during treatment and diagnostic intrabronchial manipulations, prevention of congestion in the bronchi of thick viscous sputum after surgery.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, pregnancy (I trimester), lactation, children under 6 years of age (for syrup 8 mg/5 ml).
With caution:
Renal insufficiency, hepatic insufficiency, bronchial diseases accompanied with excessive secretion, gastrointestinal bleeding in anamnesis.
Dosage and administration method
Inside. 1 scoop or 1 measuring cup contains 5 ml of syrup.
8 mg/5 ml syrup is administered in adults and children over 14 years old by 8-16 mg (5-10 ml) 3 times a day, in children aged 6-14 years old by 8 mg (5 ml) 3 times a day.
Children receive 4 mg/5 ml syrup in the following dosages: up to 2 years old 2 mg (2.5 ml) 3 times a day, 2- 6 years old 4 mg (5 ml) 3 times a day, 6-14 years old 8 mg (10 ml) 3 times a day.
