Pancreatin Pharmacodynamics
Digestive enzyme remedy, replenishes pancreatic enzyme deficiencies.
Pancreas, has proteolytic, amylolytic and lipolytic action. Pancreatic enzymes included (lipase, alpha-amylase, trypsin, chymotrypsin) contribute to the breakdown of proteins to amino acids, fats – to glycerol and fatty acids, starch – to dextrins and monosaccharides, improves the functional state of the GI (gastrointestinal tract), normalizes digestion. Trypsin suppresses stimulated pancreatic secretion, having an analgesic effect. Pancreatic enzymes are released from
dosage form in the alkaline environment of the small intestine because they are protected from the action of gastric juice by a coating. Maximum enzymatic activity of the drug is observed 30-45 mn after oral administration.
Indications
Substitution therapy for external pancreatic insufficiency: chronic pancreatitis, pancreatectomy, post-radiation conditions, dyspepsia, cystic fibrosis; flatulence, diarrhea of non-infectious genesis. Impaired digestion (condition after resection of the stomach and small intestine); to improve digestion in persons with normal GI (gastrointestinal tract) function in case of errors in diet (consumption of fatty foods, large amounts of food, irregular meals) and with disorders of chewing function, sedentary lifestyle, prolonged immobilization. Remheld syndrome (gastrocardia syndrome). Preparation for X-ray examination and ultrasound (ultrasound) of the abdominal cavity.
Contraindications .
Acute pancreatitis, exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, hypersensitivity to components of the drug.
Dosage and administration

- Depends on age and degree of pancreatic insufficiency. For adults, a single dose is 60 to 120 BD (2 to 4 tablets). For children, the drug is prescribed in the following dosages: at the age of 6-7 years – 30 BD (1 tablet); 8-9 years – 30-60 BD (1-2 tablets); 10-14 years 60 BD (2 tablets).
- The duration of treatment may vary from a few days (in case of digestive disorders, errors in the diet) to several months or even years (if permanent replacement therapy is necessary).
