Oflomelid Pharmacodynamics
Oflomelid® combined drug has antimicrobial,
anti-inflammatory, local anesthetic, regenerating effect. The active ingredients are ofloxacin, methyluracil and lidocaine.
Ofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial of the group of fluoroquinolones. It has a bactericidal effect due to blockade of DNA-gyrase in bacterial cells. It is active against Gram-negative and Gram-positive microorganisms.
Methyluracil is a tissue repair stimulator. It has anabolic activity. It accelerates the processes of cellular regeneration in wounds, accelerating the growth and granulation maturation of the tissue and epithelization.
Lidocaine has local anesthetic effect due to blockade of Na+ -channels, which prevents the generation of impulses in the endings of sensitive neurons and impulse conduction along the nerve fibers. When applied externally, it dilates blood vessels and has no local irritant effect.
The basis of the ointment is a mixture of polyethylene oxides with molecular weights of 400 and 1500, which provides a dehydrating effect on the tissues up to 20 times greater in strength 10% sodium chloride solution
Indications
Infectious wounds of different localization and etiology in the first (purulent-necrotic) phase of the wound process, including those with severe pain syndrome (infected burns of II-IV degree), Bedsores, trophic ulcers, post-operative and post-traumatic wounds and fistulas, wounds after abscesses, phlegmon, after surgical treatment of abscessed furuncles, carbuncles, hydradenitis, festering atheromas, lipomas and other).
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, lactation, children under 18 years of age.
Dosage and administration
- Outwardly, once a day for 1 -2 weeks. After a standard treatment of wounds and burns apply the ointment directly to the wound surface in a thin layer (followed by a sterile gauze bandage) or to a gauze bandage, followed by an application to the lesion. Tampons soaked in ointment loosely fill cavities of purulent wounds after surgical treatment, and gauze turundas with ointment are inserted into fistulous passages.
- In treatment of purulent wounds the ointment is used once a day, in treatment of burns – daily or 2-3 times a week depending on the amount of purulent discharge. Maximum daily dose shall not exceed 100 g. Duration of treatment depends on the dynamics of wound clearance from purulent exudate and timing of stopping the inflammatory process.
