Description

Motilac Pharmacodynamics
Prokinetic. It increases duration of peristaltic contractions of antral part of stomach and duodenum, improves stomach function by accelerating its emptying in case of delayed emptying, increases tone of lower esophageal sphincter, eliminates development of nausea and vomiting.

Indications
Complex of dyspeptic symptoms, often associated with delayed gastric emptying, gastroesophageal reflux, esophagitis:
– feeling of congestion in the epigastrium, feeling of bloating in the abdomen, pain in the upper abdomen;
– belching, flatulence;
– Heartburn with or without gastric contents thrown into the oral cavity.
Nausea and vomiting of any etiology, including functional, organic, infectious origin, caused by radiotherapy, drug therapy, intoxication or violation of diet, as well as against the background of dopamine agonists in case of their use in Parkinson’s disease (such as levodopa and bromocriptine).

Contraindications
– prolactinoma;
– Children under 5 years of age;
– Hypersensitivity to domperidone.
Motilac should not be used when stimulation of gastric motility is unacceptable, i.e. in case of gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction or perforation.

Dosage and administration method

  • In chronic dyspeptic symptoms, adults are prescribed 10 mg (1 tablet) 3 times a day and, if necessary, additionally before bedtime.
  • If the effect is insufficient, the specified dose is doubled.
  • Children over 5 years of age are prescribed 2.5 mg/10 kg body weight 3 times a day and, if necessary, additionally before bedtime.
  • In acute and subacute states, especially in case of nausea and vomiting, adults are prescribed 20 mg (2 tablets) 3-4 times a day and, if necessary, additionally before bedtime.
  • Children over 5 years of age are prescribed 5 mg per 10 kg body weight 3 to 4 times during the day and, if necessary, additionally before bedtime.
  • Absorption is somewhat slower when taking the drug after meals.
  • When constant use (for chronic symptoms) it is preferable to receive the drug orally 15-30 minutes before a meal.
  • In renal failure, depending on the severity, it is recommended to reduce the frequency of drug administration to 1-2 times per day.
