Description

Glucose Pharmacodynamics
The drug is used during oral glucose tolerance test (IGTT) for diagnostics of glucose tolerance disorders and diabetes mellitus.

Indications
Used as a diagnostic tool during oral glucose tolerance test.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to glucose, acute infectious and inflammatory diseases, severe exhaustion and malnutrition, acute gastric ulcer, exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, gastrointestinal infections, accompanied by impaired glucose absorption; Manifest diabetes mellitus; glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome; endocrine diseases, causing increase of glucose concentration in blood (Cushing’s disease, acromegaly, pheochromocytoma, hyperthyroidism); short-term use of drugs that increase the concentration of glucose in blood (glucocorticosteroids, thyroid hormones, thiazide diuretics, beta-adrenoblockers, etc). ); severe manifestations of toxemia during pregnancy; hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, hypophosphatemia. Age under 18 years (for the given dosage form and dosage).
Administration during pregnancy and lactation
PGTT during pregnancy and breast feeding is carried out by prescription.

Dosage and administration

  • PGTT is carried out by prescription.
  • PGTT should be conducted in the morning on a background of at least 3 days of unlimited diet (more than 150 grams of carbohydrates per day) and normal physical activity. The test should be preceded by an overnight fast of 8-14 hours (you can drink water). The last evening meal should contain 30-50 g of carbohydrates. After drawing blood on an empty stomach subject should drink no more than 5 minutes 82.5 g of glucose monohydrate dissolved in 250-300 ml of water. Smoking is not permitted during the test. The blood is drawn again after 2 hours.
